Be an HJL Volunteer
Become a Housing Justice League volunteer and help us fight for housing justice in Atlanta! We are looking for passionate organizers & volunteers who want to help us with community outreach, fundraising, attending actions & events, activating spaces, photography, research, & more!
When HJL has been its most effective, we’ve had very robust membership engagement and a steady flow of volunteers through our Working Groups. These groups each focus on a specific aspect of HJL’s work, allowing participation from our supporters in order to make a direct impact on the housing situation for people in our communities.
Tenant working group
Join our Tenant Working Group! 🎯
Our Tenant WG is focused on organizing tenants into unions and associations that are able to take collective action in order to improve their living conditions. TWG is the bread and butter of HJL’s work. We’re on the ground navigating the conditions imposed by the housing crises under capitalism while in a landlord-friendly state. If you have interest in organizing your own neighbors, helping other existing associations fight, and building to a city-wide tenant union, then this is the Working Group for you!

Policy working group
Join our Policy Working Group!! ✍️
Our Policy WG is aimed at researching policy and advocating for housing legislation that will empower renters and take control out of the hands of the landlord class. We look at what has worked in other places, what is being discussed in the zeitgeist of Georgia housing politics, and what revolutionary reforms can be advocated for in the now. We synthesize these things into a housing platform that works for working class, low-income, and marginalized people in Atlanta and across the state.
